New Masons Falls Walk
One are I use to like visiting in the Kinglake National Park when I use to live up on Kinglake was the Masons Falls section. Masons Falls was sort of the centre piece of that park. But after the fires in 2009 access to the Masons Falls are was pretty much limited. Sign up in the area talked of reopening that area, but no clear date as to when.
Then Wednesday last week, after an extensive rebuild of of the tracks, picnic area and the Masons Falls lookout, that section of that park was reopened to the public. I didn’t go there on the opening, but I was up in the Kinglake area for a family Christmas gathering and decided I would also head over to the park after that. It was great getting go here again. Things had changed a but since the last time I was able to go here, but the main falls were still pretty much the same, just a few extra logs that had fallen onto the rocks after the fires.
I seriously could just spend a day almost just standing on the lookout platform there just looking as the falls and listening to the water falling over the rocks into the gully below. Would be nice to come back here after there has been a good amount of rain fall in the area.
Edit: I’m having trouble getting the photos I want to upload to here going through. I’ll post some more here individually but for now you can go to my Google+/Picasa Kinglake album here to see the photos.
